Goblin Market Meme
I created this meme because one of the main themes throughout Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti was dissatisfaction. Once a girl has tasted the fruit offered by the Goblins, they can no longer hear the call. However, their bodies crave it like a drug to the point of death. This meme is playing on the text in how once you leave the market you can’t ever go back, and you never feel the same.
This meme is great! It captures so much of the message Rossetti was trying to give in just a few words. Just as you said, the market serves as a point of dissatisfaction. This relates to the broader idea of dissatisfaction that was so prevalent in Victorian society. It also makes me think about our discussion on Christina Rossetti and her personal feelings and views on dissatisfaction and marriage at the time. These feelings were definitely kept in mind and show through in “Goblin Market.”
I wish you had photo-shopped a fruit into his hand!! Haha
I’m lucky I got what I did. This was the first meme that I have ever made!
